I am testing a bot I made that should allow uploading files, and I’m on mobile. When I try to add the file it sits at the top of the chat box but doesn’t send through?

The file should be sent through. A small eccentricity of the system is the file is uploading but you must prompt the tool with a message. Something like “Okay, I’ve uploaded it” usually works. When you upload a file, it sits there for the duration of your chat session unless you refresh or ‘x’ it out.

Hi,
I’m just curious how you got your chat bot to have the capability of uploading files in the first place. Does it have to do with the pricing plan you have?

All Pickaxes (Chatbots or Forms) can accept file uploads.

The creator can upload files directly themself in the builder by going into the **Learn** tab and clicking on on the “Upload Files” or “Upload webpage” button.

If the creator allows it, then end-users can upload their own files as well. To enable this, the creator needs to go into **configure** and click the option to allow end-user uploads. I’ve included a screenshot of the builder with some arrows pointing to file upload options.

Hi,

Thank you! That’s great to know!

@admin_mike I tried doing this with a YouTube link, but it doesn’t seem to work. Can I get userss to share a YT link that’s then added to the knowledge base? Thanks!

You need to add youtube links as a “webpage”. If an end-user adds a youtube video link into the chat, it is automatically handled the same way.

However, youtube videos must be public and have transcripts turned on. This the default setting for the majority of Youtube videos. But some people do try adding private videos. So just double check that.

I just tried again, but still no luck.

Here’s a quick video:

Ahhh. I see.

When end-users (people using your Pickaxe, not the owner) add a file or link it is not added (and cannot be added) permanently to the knowledge base. It is just used temporarily for that chat session. This [post](https://community.pickaxe.co/t/allow-document-upload-for-chat-session-only/396/2) explains a little more.

If you want to add files yourself (permanently) to the Knowledge Base, then you need to do that in the right-hand panel under “configure”.

Thanks Mike. However, it’s not actually giving me a transcription at all:

Hey cattop, I tested the youtube video upload system and it’s working.

The issue is asking it to transcribe the video verbatim. It won’t be able to do that. See if it works asking it to write a summary of the video or something like that.
