# Uploading PDFs into AI chatbot not working. AI claims it can't read document

Users are able to submit PDFs. However, it’s not working at the moment. And end user reported it and I was able to reproduce via two different PDFs. Nothing happens other than the AI asking for some type of input.
I am using a custom API key. Not sure if that would impact it.
Please advise.

Can you send a screenshot of the error? Or a URL for the tool? Did they receive an error message in red text? Or did the bot tell them in normal chat conversation that it couldn’t do it?

I am getting the same error. Using tokens and not API. It cannot read pdf when uploaded or a link to the pdf online. Have tested both ChatGPT 4, and 4 mini.
It says it is not a formatting error from the but current capabilities does not support reading or extracting content from PDFs?
