Buggy email onboarding UI and chat UI on mobile browser

Hey guys I have 2 problems. I’m really loving pickaxe and couldn’t say enough good things about the product so far. There’s a couple minor bugs that would be great to get smoothed out to have a production level feel for our studios.

1

This happens on mobile. When someone signs up and needs to verify their email the alert “please verify your email to continue using our tools” gets hidden behind the drop down menu. It took me a pretty long time to figure out how to get to the actual alert.

Then if you can figure out how to get to the alert there’s nowhere on it that says you need to actually click it to get the email sent. The way it is right now made me assume that the email was already sent. I went searching for the email, it was never to be found…. I came back and clicked “please verify your email to continue using our tools” and then was directed to a screen where the email is sent.

I guess to me this looks like a notification message instead of something I need to click and interact with (and its tricky to even get to it when it’s hiding behind the dropdown menu). That whole UI experience feels really clunky and could totally detour someone from purchasing… especially if they aren’t very tech savy.

Maybe it would be better if it said “Click here to verify your email to continue using our tools”, or something along those lines.

2

Can someone verify if they are seeing the same thing in a mobile browser. I’m on a new iphone and all of a sudden the box that you type in is getting stuck in the center of the screen after you send a message. It used to automatically drop down. Then it stays there and the response message starts from the top half of the screen. You have to manually pull it down. Again, this is just a bad user experience. Hopefully we can get it to auto drop to the bottom like it did before.

I love pickaxe and I think you guys are doing a great job. Is it possible to get these ironed out so the user experience is more smooth and seamless. Less friction is always good. Thanks guys!

Quick update, I went through the boarding process again with a new email. This time it looks like the email was auto sent without me having to click anything which is great. Maybe pickaxe quickly worked on this, I opened a support ticket last night.

I still get the problem where if I click the yellow exclamation point in the top right it automatically makes the “please verify your email to continue using our tools” message and the drop down menu both open (hiding the message). If I click the drop down menu by itself only the drop down menu shows.

A quick note about the chat box getting stuck in the middle of the screen. I noticed this only happens AFTER I checked out for the subscription and verified the email. Prior to this the chatbox doesn’t get stuck (when I was just using guest credits). I also ran out of guest credits before starting the onboarding progress if that helps (maybe that causes the bug). I’m on an iPhone 17 pro in the safari app using private browsing. I tested it today with a new account and the problem persists.

Hi @motheraigaia ,
Thank you for your detailed message and for sharing your experience.

I’ve sent a response to your email regarding this, but I’m also sharing it here for your convenience.

Regarding email verification:
After signing up, users automatically receive a verification email. There is no need to manually request it unless they want to resend it. This is how the system has always worked, so what you experienced was likely a temporary issue, or it may be that the emails arrived with a delay.

The behavior where the verification message is partially hidden behind the dropdown menu has been reported to our engineering team for further review.

Regarding the input box appearing stuck in the middle of the screen on mobile Safari, our team has not been able to reproduce this behavior. In our testing, the input field moves and functions normally on Safari and other browsers. To help us investigate further, could you confirm whether you are using any custom keyboard apps or similar tools that might influence how the input box behaves?

We’ll continue looking into this and will update you once we have more information.

Hey Danny, thanks for the support! I appreciate the response.

Yeah the email issue seemed to resolve itself. I think the verification email was delayed. Today when I went through the onboarding process with a new email address it was smooth.

The chat box getting stuck only happens in private browsing. I went and checked again and it’s still happening. I tried without private browsing and it worked fine. Maybe it’s one of those “reduce protections” issues within safari when its in private mode.

I’m not using any additional keyboard apps. Just the phone’s stock keyboard.

Most people wont be using private browsing so this isn’t a huge issue any more. Thanks for getting back to me and always being so helpful.

hi @motheraigaia ! danny flagged this to engineering (he’s on top of it as always!) and i’m glad to hear we found a resolution. we will still take a look now at the private browsing IOS funkiness but thanks for helping us help you, it would be way harder without it :construction_worker:

Great job for being so fast to have the GPT 5.1 model available! So far it does seem to be more conversational with more personality than GPT 5.

I’m running into the same bug that Haiku had when you guys launched it. I’m unable to take a picture or upload a picture on IOS (new iphone in safari). It only has the video option. Hopefully this is an easy fix. I’m going to continue experimenting with GPT 5.1… thanks guys!

Hi @motheraigaia ,

Thank you for the kind words. We’re glad to hear you’re already experimenting with GPT 5.1.

Regarding the issue with image upload not working for this model, this has already been reported to our engineering team. They are currently investigating, and we will let you know as soon as image uploads are fully enabled for GPT 5.1.
