Codex + Pickaxe: Can We Start Selling Real AI Automations Instead of Just Chatbots?

Hey everyone,

I’m curious how many of you have been experimenting with Codex lately. Honestly, it’s been kind of mind-blowing. The speed at which you can build real, functional tools and automations is on a completely different level. It feels less like prompting a chatbot and more like actually building software in real time.

That got me thinking about Pickaxe and whether there’s a path to bring something like this into the ecosystem. I love Pickaxe and everything it has unlocked for me creatively.

Instead of just chat-based tools, what if we could create and sell more “app-like” automations? I’ve already built a few things for personal use with Codex that I know people would pay for, but the missing piece right now is a clean way to package it, put it behind a paywall, and deliver it like we can with Pickaxe.

The challenge, as I see it, is that Codex operates with deeper system access. It creates folders, writes files, uses the terminal, interacts with the browser, etc. That’s very different from the typical Pickaxe experience. So I’m not sure what the bridge looks like, but it definitely feels like there’s something here.

I’m also curious if anyone here has experimented with the OpenClaw integration. From the outside, it seems like it might be a step in this direction, especially with more persistent, always-running agent-style workflows. I don’t have hands-on experience with it yet, but it looks powerful.

Overall, it feels like we’re moving toward a much more agentic world, where users aren’t just chatting, they’re deploying systems that do things continuously. I’d love to hear if anyone has found ways to:

  • Package and sell more advanced automations through Pickaxe

  • Bridge the gap between local agent tools (like Codex) and hosted experiences

  • Use the OpenClaw Pickaxe integration or similar tools in a real, monetizable way

Just thinking out loud, but it feels like there’s a big opportunity here if the pieces come together.

Would love to hear your thoughts.
