Pickaxe’s display of “Gemini Pro 2.5 Preview” is out of date—Gemini 2.5 Pro’s stable, general availability release was on June 17, 2025, and multiple Preview models were deprecated or redirected around that time.
MAYBE it’s being redirected to the production model, but based on the low IQ I am seeing with regard to language skills and use of the KB, I don’t think so - Hoping GPT-5 is better.
This is where having a Straico type org managing models and updates would be a boon- it’s their entire business, whereas Pickaxe has bigger fish to fry.
In this case, I only need a model smart enough to associate words like “dimensions” with a data row labelled “Sizes” in an Excel file in the KB, which I explicitly mention in the Prompt. Being able to run 5 models side by side would be a real time-saver. I mean, I guess I could somehow try to reconstruct the KB in Pinecone, then run Straico against it, but I am not looking for a PhD atm.

That took almost 5 months from the stable release.

Does it not make sense for Pickaxe to focus on higher level things than maintaining and updating LLM APIs?
