How many Pickaxes can be chained together?

We know that Pickaxes can be connected to each other, but how many Pickaxes can actually be chained together?

More specifically: is it possible to have four or even five Pickaxes working sequentially, where the output of one becomes the input of the next until the final result is returned to the user? Or do all actions need to be combined into a single Pickaxe for them to work correctly?

I’m asking because I’m currently limited by the number of actions in Pickaxe.

TL;DR - What I’m looking for is can we combine multiple agents into collaborative AI teams? Or is this something we will see in future releases?

Short answer: yes, Pickaxes can be chained together through Actions. The number of Actions depends on your plan: Free supports 1 Action, Gold supports up to 3 Actions per Pickaxe, and Pro supports unlimited Actions.

You can pass output from one Pickaxe into another using Actions.

One thing to keep in mind: chaining multiple Pickaxes can slightly impact speed. It’s usually not dramatic, but it can vary based on the models you choose, prompt complexity, and how the overall flow is set up.

On the “collaborative AI teams” idea, that’s a great way to frame it. Today this is achieved indirectly via Actions and workflows rather than native multi-agent coordination, but it’s very much aligned with where things are heading.

I’d also love to hear from others here. If you’ve built multi-step or agent-style chains, please share what worked well for you.

Do you think we can at some point do more of a sequential thinking and workflows in Pickaxe where we link multiple bots one after the other? At the moment this feels a bit hard to do with Actions.

The studio as idea is great, but I would really love something easy to use and seeing the tools going more like n8n in some ways so we could create more complex yet still easy to use AI / AI chat tools. Below example image from n8n

Interesting!
I’d suggest posting it as a Feature Request so others can weigh in. When a request gets strong community support, it helps us prioritize it and explore it more seriously.

Hey @hurmuli this is doable and fairly easy natively on Pickaxe. I put together a template that you can download for free. Check it out here:

You can chain them together using the “Your Pickaxes” section - under the Actions tab in the editor.

You can learn how to further customize on the Pickaxe Prospector Associate subscription where you can learn advanced Pickaxe skills and network with other members making money with AI.
