I’m not quite sure of what I’m missing or misunderstanding, but one of my members just sent me this message:
I told him to just use it in our membership portal. Is that the best answer? Is there a way to make this an app that I can distribute (iOS and/or PlayStore)? I’m not sure what the difference is but this guy is my target and he wants an stinkin’ app

Look into PWAs; they are basically websites but with an app icon and a few bonuses. It’s just an app that loads your website every time it loads.

You won’t install from the App Store, but it’s the easiest and cheapest way to do it. If that doesn’t work, you may have some other (harder) options.
Is this much different than users adding the website shortcut to their Home Screen?
Yes, while it uses the same action, it is different. Instead of opening it in your browser, it creates a separate instance; that way it behaves like a mobile app. I believe you’re also able to send notifications. Another great pro is it has an “install” screen, basically instructions for the user on how to install.
