Hi Pickaxe Support,
We’re seeing inconsistent LaTeX rendering across multiple models in Pickaxe.
The same math response will sometimes render properly, but other times the raw LaTeX appears directly in the output (for example, $x = -2$ instead of a formatted equation). This seems to happen across models, while the same prompts render correctly in tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex.
We’ve tried prompt-level formatting instructions, but the issue persists. Could you confirm whether this is a known rendering issue and whether there’s a recommended workaround or fix?
I will share screenshots and example prompts/outputs if helpful.
Hi @lumora_support,
Thank you for reaching out!
We investigated this and confirmed that Pickaxe intentionally does not render math enclosed in single dollar signs. We made this change after other users reported that prices and financial information were being incorrectly interpreted as equations, breaking their outputs.
For mathematical expressions, please use double dollar signs. Please make this rule explicit in both your agent’s instructions and Model Reminder:
“Always place two dollar signs before and after every mathematical expression, including expressions within sentences, headings, and lists. Never use single dollar signs for math.”
This applies across models because Pickaxe handles the rendering. If an expression already uses double dollar signs and still appears as raw text, please share that specific output so we can investigate further.
