✨ New Feature: Drag and Drop File Uploads

We are excited to share a small but powerful update. You can now let your end users drag and drop files directly into the chat input area while interacting with your Pickaxe. The file uploads instantly with no extra clicks needed.

This works only if file upload is enabled. Pickaxe builders can turn this on for a single Pickaxe or for all Pickaxes within the same Studio.

Go to your Builder, open the Prompt tab, and look for the “Allow users to upload files” toggle. Turning this on adds the paperclip icon to your Pickaxe chat window, allowing end users to upload files.

You will see three options:

  • Disabled: Users cannot upload files.

  • This thread only: Uploaded files will be available for the current Pickaxe conversation only.

  • All tools for each user: Uploaded files will be linked to the user profile and automatically shared across all Pickaxes that user interacts with in the same Studio.

Choose the option that best fits your setup. If you want users’ uploaded files to be available across multiple Pickaxes, select All tools for each user.

Once enabled, end users can simply drag and drop files into the chat input area to upload them. It is fast, smooth, and intuitive.

:light_bulb: Tip: This works for text files, PDFs, Word docs, spreadsheets, and more.

This feature makes it easier for users to share files instantly while your Pickaxe processes and responds in real time. It is perfect for use cases like reviewing resumes, analyzing reports, reading contracts, or summarizing PDFs. It saves time, improves workflow, and helps you deliver more interactive and powerful AI experiences.

@abhi sweet! Is it possible to also drag and drop images?

@abhi For the “This thread only” it says that it is only available for the “current PA convo”. Is this something that was just changed, because my clients keep complaining that the attachment leaks into other conversations and ruins their output? I instructed them to start a new chat, but it still leaks through.

The latest complaint was last week so this change may have been implemented after that.

Hi,

That’s strange. I recommend disabling it and enabling it again. Please reach out to info@pickaxeproject.com with details, and we can look into it.
