Hi everyone,
We just rolled out something many of our high-traffic builders have been asking for. It’s called Fallback Model, and it adds an extra layer of reliability to your Studio.
If you’re a Pro builder, you already know how fast things can scale. Some of you serve thousands of users every single day. When that many people rely on your Pickaxes, even one brief outage from a major model provider can ripple out and affect a huge number of end users.
Sometimes GPT 5.1 is temporarily down.
Sometimes Gemini is having a moment.
Before today, that meant your Pickaxe could stop working altogether.
Fallback Model fixes that.
When this toggle is on, your Pickaxe will automatically retry the request using one of our backup models whenever the primary model fails. No extra setup. No extra prompts. Just smoother reliability behind the scenes.
It keeps your Studio running.
It keeps your users happy.
And it lets you operate confidently even during model hiccups.
Where to find it:
Go to your Studio → Settings → toggle Fallback Model on or off anytime. It’s available for all Pro plans.

(Once the Fallback Model is enabled at the Studio level, it automatically covers every Pickaxe inside that Studio. There’s no need to adjust anything tool by tool. One switch protects the whole workspace, so builders don’t have to worry about configuring individual Pickaxes.)
If you’re running tools that people depend on, this single switch can save you from a lot of surprise downtime.
Happy building, and thank you for trusting Pickaxe with your audience. ![]()
