Any reason for the "Sign In" button when users have unlimited credits?

When a Pickaxe studio is free for users, with unlimited credits granted, is there any need for the “Sign In” button (upper right corner)? It seems like it will confuse users who will likely wonder why there’s a sign-in button when access is free.

Is there a case to be made for encouraging sign-ups even when use of studio is offered free of charge? Whether or not there is in some applications, it seems there should be the ability to optionally hide that “Sign In” button if a developer doesn’t want it.

Probably a few reasons to track users, including marketing.
If you allow social login, you get a little data about your users.
You know who your heavy users are, and can upsell.

@Gene signing in is beneficial because it allows the Studio to have a record of a user’s history (which they will be able to see) and to keep track of other relevant information, such as user memories
