Hi everyone,
We’re excited to share a big upgrade. Claude Sonnet 4’s new 1 million token context window is now available on Pickaxe.
What this means in simple words
Context window is the model’s “memory span” inside a single conversation. Most models can only hold a few thousand tokens before they start forgetting earlier parts of the chat. A 1 million token window is a huge jump. It allows Claude to keep track of long documents, long chats, and complex instructions without losing the thread.
Why this matters for Pickaxe builders
Here’s how this helps you directly:
1. Better long-form reasoning
If your Pickaxe handles research, analysis, long coaching flows, or detailed instructions, Claude can now keep the entire history in mind. No more dropped context halfway through.
2. Massive files and long transcripts become usable
Although Pickaxe already uses a smart RAG system for knowledge bases , this large window now lets Claude process huge user inputs directly in a single run when needed.
3. More stable multi-step workflows
Agents that require back-and-forth steps or Action calls become more reliable because the model retains more information across steps.
4. Ideal for creators with deep content
If you’re building tools for courses, coaching, legal drafting, research, medical explanations, or enterprise documentation, this lets your Pickaxe carry far more context before hitting limits.
A quick example
If a user pastes in a long training manual, a 300-page transcript, or a full year of meeting notes, Claude can now keep the whole thing active during reasoning instead of summarizing or forgetting earlier sections.
Feel free to try it out and share your results in the community. Your feedback always helps us learn what’s working and what we can improve.
Happy building!
