🚀 Grok 4.1 models are now live in Pickaxe!

Hey everyone,

A quick update for the builders who love experimenting with new models.

We just added Grok 4.1 Fast and Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning to the AI Model selector. You’ll find both options right inside the model dropdown, and you can filter for them just like any other model.

These versions are tuned for fast, agentic workflows, so they are great if your Pickaxe uses Actions or needs quick reasoning loops.

If you’re working on support bots, sales assistants, or anything that needs emotional nuance, these new Grok versions might be worth trying.

As always, if you run into anything strange or have feedback, drop a note here or email us at info@pickaxe.co

Happy building!

I am getting this error with Grok 4.1 Reasoning “Provider Error 1: Model grok-4-1-fast-reasoning does not support parameter reasoningEffort.”

According to Grok:

Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning (available in the API as the grok-4-1-fast-reasoning model) does not provide options for customizing the reasoning amount or similar parameters. Reasoning is an inherent capability of the model, but the API documentation focuses on standard parameters like context window (2M tokens) and pricing, without exposing adjustable reasoning levels, steps, or quantities. For full details on API parameters and usage, refer to the official docs at https://docs.x.ai/docs/models.

Looking in to this! Should be fixed now.

Nice one Pickaxe team! :rocket: Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning is a great alternative to Grok 4 Fast Reasoning for prompt chaining native Pickaxe agents within a PNAA structure as I outlined here:

For Pickaxers who don’t yet know, you can build agentic workflows within Pickaxe using native tools in Pickaxe. You can experiment with the official template here:

OpenExperience | Free AI Tool | Studio Template

Further reducing the time between new model releases and their availability for the Pickaxe community is a huge differentiator for us. Keep it up!

Could you enable image uploads for Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning? It supports multimodal and images.

Should be done! Actually we made it so image upload works with all models, so this won’t really be an issue going forward.

Hello Ned,

Congratulations on the tool and thank you for pointing out this tab with the templates. Due to my oversight, I had never visited it before and it’s certainly a rich resource.

On your OX home screen, was the file upload capability via form probably something custom you built?

Or am I using something already natively available in Pickaxe that I’m not able to see :)?

Hi @hirbis no problem. Happy it helps

1 full session with OX and you’re ready to launch your business on Pickaxe. It’s that good.

The user file upload feature can be enabled for any type of Pickaxe under the ‘Capabilities’ tab right under the ‘Prompt frame’ section:

Thank you for the detailed response, Ned.

However, I was referring to the placement of a field for file insertion within the context of a sequence of questions (as if they were a form), considering that there are only 4 types of questions:

I was already familiar with the capability of allowing users to attach files in the conversation, but I currently only see this possibility in the “Form+Chat” model after the user enters the answers in the “Form” and subsequently has the “Chat” enabled.

In your tool it’s different. The file upload field makes it seem like we have a fifth type of form field:

@hirbis I understand you. Document upload tab is always placed as the 1st in the list of user inputs within a form or form + chat - style pickaxes. It is also not specific to form + chat Pickaxes.

What I did in the case of OX is add it as a user input as I showed in the previous response

and edited the instructions text.

In the excitement to add Grok 4.1 Fast, I think we forgot to add vanilla Grok 4.1.

Hi, Thomas!

Apparently xAI doesn’t have a vanilla Grok 4.1 yet. They only have Grok 4.1 Reasoning and Non-Reasoning so far

I was sure you were wrong but I doubled checked first. You are right!

Vanilla Grok 4.1 is not on the API yet. I wonder if they are waiting and will skip to Grok 4.20 which is already in LLM Arena apparently.
