Hi Pickaxe team,
I need to move my paid Portal from my current Stripe account to a brand new Stripe account under a different legal entity, and I want to understand the impact on my existing subscribers before I change anything.
My situation:
- I have 31 active subscribers at $10 CAD/month, all created through Pickaxe’s checkout.
- My current Stripe account is shared with another business of mine, so Stripe’s account-level business details (legal entity, address, terms of service URL) are being applied to both. That’s the reason for the move.
- I have created a new Stripe account under my new corporation and it is currently in verification.
My questions:
-
Can I disconnect my current Stripe account and connect a different one? If so, what happens to the 31 existing active subscriptions — do they keep billing, do they stop, and do those users keep or lose access to the Portal?
-
If I use Stripe’s self-serve PAN copy tool to move my customers and their saved payment methods to the new Stripe account, and then recreate the 31 subscriptions directly in the Stripe dashboard, will Pickaxe recognise those subscriptions and grant access? Or does a subscription have to be created through Pickaxe’s own checkout flow for Pickaxe to link it to a user account?
-
Is there a supported migration path for this, or do existing subscribers need to cancel and re-subscribe through a new checkout link on the new account?
-
If re-subscribing is the only option, what is the correct order of operations so that no one is double-billed and no one loses access partway through?
I’m not going to change anything until I hear back. If you have a better way to do this then I’m all ears! I’m relatively new to Pickaxe so ideally I’d like to migrate my existing subscribers to the new account without disturbing their service. Thanks for your help!
