Hi everyone :waving_hand:

I’m building a basic photography assistant for integration with WhatsApp using PickAxe, and I have a few questions I haven’t been able to find clear answers to yet:

  1. Image input
    Can users send or upload a photo/image for recognition or analysis (for example, submitting an image file)?

  2. Voice messages
    Can users send a voice message and receive a text or voice response from the assistant?

  3. Read receipts
    Is there any way to change the message “check marks” under a user’s message to blue once the bot has read it?

  4. Access control
    Is there a way to control who can chat with the assistant via WhatsApp (for example, only approved users, subscribers, or people with a token)?
    Or once someone has the WhatsApp number, is the chat open to anyone?

Hi @cleverphotographer,
At the moment, file or image upload via WhatsApp isn’t supported in Pickaxe, so users aren’t able to send photos for analysis yet. It’s a great idea though, and I’d recommend adding it to the Feature Request section as well. I’ll also share this with our engineers so they can explore what might be possible on the roadmap.
For read receipts and WhatsApp specific elements like blue check marks, these may be limited by WhatsApp’s own APIs. I’ll double check this on our end and share an update once I have more clarity.
