I want to try out the agent on our platform, but when I attempt to chat with it, no matter which model I select, it always uses Grok’s model. Is this a bug?
hi there @tramppapazian7123 this is certainly weird ! thank you for alerting us.
taking a look now and will report back soon with an explanation or a fix.
following up here @tramppapazian7123
we were able to pin down what happened. the builder preview was allowing some model selections without clearly marking when a model was unavailable for the current account state. when that happened, the backend switched to an available fallback model, and in this case that fallback was Grok.
so, GPT itself was not answering as Grok, but the UI absolutely made this confusing by showing one model while the backend used another.
we’re going to update the builder so unavailable models are clearly labeled/blocked before preview instead of silently falling back.
thanks again for flagging this, this was a good catch.
your account credits have been topped off for the time being, welcome to Pickaxe !
So, are GPT or Claude models not allowed during the free trial?
I encountered the same issue
Hi @brogers70,
Certain GPT, Gemini, and Grok models are available on the free trial. Some of the more advanced models (GPT-5.5, Gemini 3.5 Flash, all Claude models, etc) are locked to free trial users. For these models, you would have to upgrade your plan to either gold or pro. You can see which models are locked to free trial users by the little “Upgrade” badge next to their names.
