We just rolled out one of the biggest upgrades to Pickaxe monetization yet for end users: Credits.

What This Is
You can now charge users based on dollar value AI usage directly inside your Pickaxe products, opening up way more flexible business models for agents, tools, automations, and premium workflows. Inspired by the same usage-based mechanics powering modern AI products, Credits let you align pricing with actual value delivered.
You can control this in the Workspace Settings page, in the area pictured here:
By default, your workspace works on top of charging for uses. A use is an interaction the user has with their tool. But sometimes, uses could cost a lot more than others. So you can now switch to using the credits system.
Each 10,000 credits equals $1 of Pickaxe usage. So if you charge your users $10 for 100,000 credits, you’ll be breaking even.
Or you could adjust the rate your charge your users for these credits.
Finally, this system allows you to charge your users directly for extra credits.
Why We Built This
One of the biggest challenges with AI businesses is balancing:

- and sustainable monetization.
Flat subscriptions break down fast when usage varies wildly between users. Credits give you a middle ground: users get flexibility, and creators get control.
