How to customise the "Upgrade Required" and "Please upgrade to continue using this tool" text on the member portal page

The issue: When a new visitor lands on my member portal URL, they see two pieces of default text that I cannot find how to edit:

  1. The heading: “Upgrade Required”

  2. The subtext: “Please upgrade to continue using this tool”

Neither of these messages is appropriate for a first-time visitor who has not yet purchased a plan. I want to replace them with a warm, welcoming message that speaks to new customers rather than existing users who have hit a usage limit.

What I have already tried:

  • Editing the Limit reached message in the Guest access group :white_check_mark: — this updated the message in some places but the two default messages above remain

  • Editing the Limit reached message in the Public Access Group :white_check_mark: — same result

  • Editing the Limit reached message in each Member Access Group :white_check_mark: — same result

  • Searching through Pages, Portals, and Settings for any editable text fields — could not find anything

My questions:

  1. Is the “Upgrade Required” heading and “Please upgrade to continue using this tool” subtext editable on the Gold plan?

  2. If not, is this functionality available on the Pro plan?

  3. Is there a workaround that would allow me to display a custom welcome message to new visitors on this page instead of the default upgrade messaging?

This is my primary customer-facing landing page and the messaging significantly impacts the first impression for new customers. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, Trish

Hi @catchmemarketing,

I was able to locate your workspace and do some user testing.

Is there a workaround that would allow me to display a custom welcome message to new visitors on this page instead of the default upgrade messaging?

It definitely makes sense not to scare people by showing them upgrade window when they visit your portal for the first time. Good news! Pickaxe gives you power to control messaging and narrative so visitors feel welcomes.

You can easily change what users should see after reaching your portal for the first time by adding a page or another message.

Adding page to portal

After adding Agent/Page, you need to set it as default home page.

You can also add separate pricing page and manage text which comes above different subscription plans. You can create separate pages within workspace as well :

Here is the video as well which explains this process (you can skip to 2:50 to see where/how to add content to portal)

As per your other queries about changing “Upgrade” language and further customization, I will check internally and get back to you.

I hope this helps and feel free to reply here if you run into any issues.
